::SPOILERS::

For about the first half of this book I had deja vu of sorts and was wondering if I had read it before. It reminded me a lot of The Guest List in its own way.

I found the book to be very predictable which makes for a good book for my high level of anxiety. I really liked this book that being said. It wasn’t cheesy, it was a good slow revenge burn and I’d like to see what Wendy is up to next!

 Also, my hurts and burns with the rage of a mother for little Poppy. As my girls grow, it hurts me to know that there truly are mean girls out there like this. Ghosts of our past do appreciate the literary vindication of a girl treated so very wrongly.

Thank you for having the dog live in the end. My heart may not have been able to handle all the things happening AND THAT, too.

Well this one is dark. I thought it interesting to have listened to the author’s post-word where she describes her book as being as close to what could have been as she could. It was pieced together from historic excerpts and a little bit of creativity based on the true story or serial killer Belle Gunness.

Kind of interesting to hear this version of the story. Just a tad darker than a what I currently need.

I really liked this book, but I just had a hard time when Cora and Page just believed Nicola and took everything she said at face value. It seemed unreal for a grieving mother (Page) to not have any distrust when hearing Nicola’s story, although I’m not sure how that would have played out in the end other than making the story more reasonable.

 Other than that part, everything else was pretty good!

I listened to this audiobook and I think I would have probably liked it more, except it was a little bit more serious that what I needed around this topic.

I also struggled with the mispronounced medical terminology. It kind of ruined it for me as I work in the medical field.

This book was a trip. Mental illness is always a mind bender for me because those who are in crisis truly believe their experience is reality AND that experience is usually terrifying. It’s so very real and that’s always what gets me.

I did like the ending, I thought it left enough open for the reader to make some of their own inferences.

I just absolutely loved this book. I listened to the audiobook read by Ramón de Ocamp and he was perfect for this read! I loved when Ramón would read Prince Henry’s contact information in Alex’s phone as “HRH Prince Dickhead Poop Emoji” - made me laugh every time.

I fell in love with the characters, I was invested in their story and happiness, and I could t wait to hear about their adventures every day. Now I’ll be over here with my RW&RB audiobook hangover while I cry into my laundry as I fold my family’s laundry.

Spoiler:: What a sweet story! I truly enjoyed the current time storyline and the flashes to the past via the letters and memories. So happy Lily and Atlas made it.
