This was such a lovely story of self-rediscovery and being true to who you are. I totally understand Rex’s fears of revealing his Drag persona and I was glad that the various facets of the queer experience were shown; love and blatant support, love expressed as fear that led to rejection, a different form of familial love through a drag mother, and love as a gay man but not as a drag queen.
Paolo was also the perfect book boyfriend. He was patient, he was sweet, willing to help and also funny. Plus, I love a man who pines 😭 that speech at karaoke? SO ROMANTIC! I can see this helping so many queer boys and drag queens out there who need this story of triumph despite the hate that may be geared towards them.
This is such a fun concept and I loved how diabetes was interwoven into the fantasy of being a blood witch. The world building was interesting though at times a little confusing. I’d be interested in reading a second installment.
Ugh real lovers are so back! There’s something so intensely romantic about a man who has all the riches and confidence he could want but still becomes putty for the girl he’s in love with.
Both Marcus and Xander are my new book boyfriends and I love how strong and witty yet vulnerable and sweet Sloan was as a FMC. It had good pacing and humour to balance out the sad and steamy scenes. So well written too! Like, come on!!
I’ll find every book you love. Hell I’ll dig up Cervantes and make him write you a new one.
Bro I MELTED!!!! As a book lover? This was exactly what I needed from a MWBW (man written by a woman).
The discussion of being mixed and not feeling fully POC or white was so poignantly included too. I’m not mixed but I deeply felt for Sloan and how out of place she was made to feel. It wasn’t too serious, but it wasn’t dismissive either. One of my fav reads of the year.
At first I was enjoying the way the plot was developing and setting the scene for what was happening. However half way through things started seeming a little unrealistic more than anything. Then it just became downright confusing and I wasn’t following well.
