I’m so confused. I’m reading this thoroughly and still getting confused by a lot of things.

I finished this book in a day, let me tell you what I think about it.

So, it actually started a bit off as the first character appeared was actually not the mc, rather than a side one who’s not even important, I just thought it was unique and very interesting.

Next, I honestly thought the story was quite confusing as all events happened in this book were tied together but not enough explanation written here, but hey that’s fine because it means a lot of thing will be revealed soon in the next book and I’m very excited!!

Lastly, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan’s mysterious past relationship is what making me click on the 4 stars button. I could feel it! The tension coming from Shen Wei every time they were together. I just hope we could focus more on the romance and reincarnation plot for the next book.

“I remembered the words of my third aunt, who had once told me that the first thing we learn when we're born is to cry. Perhaps it's because, in life, sadness tends to outweigh happiness. Being born into this world is never a fortunate event. We owe others a debt for being here. Only when we've shed all our tears can we walk this world peacefully.”

So I’m binge read this and finished it in 2 days, here is what I think:

I’m afraid Sanxi was never the weak protagonist we thought he was, I feel like he was just too aware and understood that he couldn’t get out of his destiny without further trouble. At the end of the day, he was just a teenager forced into marriage with 3 people he never met.

On the other hand the lack of character depth within all the husbands was disappointing. Especially since the story was told by Sanxi’s pov. I could say that Helang’s character was the only one who is slightly not forgettable. 

Finally despite the awful ending (yes, AWFUL), my eyes can’t lie and say that this wasn’t one of the most depressing stories i’ve read.

Time is like water, Murong Yu. Meeting each other in this world of too much war, too much chaos, was our misfortune, yet the single fortunate thing is that we met each other.

We have never betrayed each other and no matter the challenges or obstacles, we will always be faithful to each other.

It's just that we have to pay the price for it; to be intimate but never close, to be in love but never together.  

 

What a perfect ending to a perfect story.
