A story about grief and how life is not always clean. The different ways that grief bubbles up inside people, a beautiful story with beautiful writing.

The writing and flow made this book easy to read, I understand why it's so popular, and it was an enjoyable read at times, knocked it down a star because I would have enjoyed this a lot more as just a cutesy lil monster fucking book. And that's what it should have been if the author had no real intention of giving the characters anything more than a few fumes of a backstory or characterisation. It is a fun lil smut book otherwise and should have started that way.

I understand that it was short and the storyline was meant to be compelling, but the way the main characters were shipped together so quickly made me uncomfortable. It is a enjoyable lighthearted read if you turn your brain of long enough (and nothing wrong with that) but reading certain characters interact ect made me want to murder them personally and I'm a pacifist. All in all the female lead is a better person than I'll ever be.
This book did show, successfully the deep and real ways that addiction, toxic family relationships and abuses of power due to the justice system really well. It was some great writing too, enough to make me mad as f***! The resolution just wasn't enough for me to have gone through the 5 stages of grief then come back to such calm acceptance? Did I mention the female lead is a better person than me?
