I had heard great things about this book but the description of it honestly didn’t draw me in immediately so I kept putting off reading it as a result. But I loved this book! It had a little bit of everything: mystery, magic, and romance. I will say that the very start of the book didn’t make me confident I’d love it as the time portion of the setting wasn’t super obvious to me. I think around chapter 5 is when I was not wanting to press pause on the book. June was an interesting character and I really enjoyed her storyline a lot! Aemmon was hard to get a really good handle on at first, but I loved him! I really appreciated the surprising complexity of the story considering it’s a YA book. Definitely a solid read and narrated so well!!

I wanted this book to work for me, but it sadly didn’t. I l really liked the guys in the book. I thought they were sweet and just the right amount of overbearing and caring. They were the best part of the book for me. Sadly, I think the fast burn and then individual scenes after the heat is what didn’t hit the mark. In an omegaverse, I want some really juicy and delicious group scenes and I only felt like there was ever just the one. Don’t get me wrong, the 1:1 bits were also good, they just weren’t what I was wanting from an OV right now. Beyond that, I didn’t connect with Esme’s character and found her a little blah. But honestly take this whole review with a grain of salt because I read this book in the wee hours of the morning (from like 2:30-8am) and with no sleep. 🙃

First and foremost, the narration was really good and a big reason I didn’t stop reading this one. Secondly, I really don’t think there was any reason this book needed to be so dang long. I felt like it took forever to get to the actual plot. The last 15-20% was super action-packed and I loved that portion of the book. There were moments throughout the rest of the book that were interesting, but fleeting to me. Saeris and Kingfisher both had their flaws, but I did ultimately like them together. The last three chapters were the best part of the book for me. This series has so much potential so I will plan to read book 2 when it comes out, but man do I hope that installment gets a lot less wordy.

ABCDEFG omg this book CONSUMED me! Literally started it at 9pm and did not stop reading until I finished. There was no dilly dallying. Helen and Rhys’s story begins right out of the gate…as in page 1. I was so completely giddy the entire book it was crazy. The previous book set their story up so well I was already beyond invested in them and then the last line of chapter one nearly put me in an early grave. 🫠🫠 I loved Helen so much, especially as I saw her become bolder and more confident. Rhys Winterborne. What a man. I love him and all his Welsh phrases. He protective without being overbearing, he loves Helen, and he’s hot af. These two were perfect. The drama in this book was nice and juicy and I loved every second of it even though it was horrible. I fear I am now a big historical romance girl and I cannot wait to read the next book of the series!

This book was such a classic Jewel book. It was a little forbidden, and little emotional, and full of great moments from start to finish. Eve’s free spirit was so refreshing. While she didn’t know what she wanted in life, she knew what she wanted in love and wasn’t afraid to go after it. Kyle, Kyle, Kyle. What a man. His words weren’t always perfect (though a lot of the time they were), but his intentions were. I loved him. Josh was the cutest little kid and I absolutely loved him. He was so sweet and innocent and loving. Sometimes single dad books don’t always feel real because the kid isn’t in the story a ton, but Josh was woven throughout the story so well. I loved this book!

Okay but why was this so juicy and hot and amazing?! I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. The tiniest moments were steamy as all get out. Who knew a simple thigh graze could be filled with so much heat? After Kathleen’s husband died, Devon inherited the earldom and was going to sell it off until Kathleen peaked his interest. These two couldn’t agree on a single thing but man did I love them together. I absolutely loved that all of the side characters in this book felt so well-developed because I am much more attached to them all and very much looking forward to seeing where each of their stories go. As somebody who doesn’t read a lot of historical romance (though I do feel as though I will be entering my historical era now), this book was truly so enjoyable! I got to the end of the book and was so sad their story had ended! However…..the set up for the next book was truly IMMACULATE and you better believe I’ll be reading it as soon as possible because I need their story!!!

This book was certainly a little twisty and I enjoyed that side of it. It was a bit of a different take on a bully romance and I appreciated that Sam did that because I didn’t really ever know what was coming next or what the truth was. Aubrey was a dedicated daughter and I liked that she would do anything for her mom, but I had hoped she wouldn’t be as gullible as she ended up being in my opinion. Dare was a classic bully-style MMC and of course I loved him and his depravity. He was just the right amount of crazy with a few sweeter moments thrown in. That all said, I didn’t really ever get the sense that the story was done, even after the epilogue. Something about it left me wanting for more.
