I am so glad I decided to pick up this book once again! I wish I could've been more patient. I do admit the first several chapters of this book bored me and halfway through the book only sparked my interest. I don't know who to blame for all the catastrophes but perhaps

Mary Ann if she didn't broke the secrecy of Jest and Cath. Or maybe Hatta for giving her that cursed magical hat! Honestly, I don't know who!

The characters are very complex and the writing style is truly elegant. I only wished Ms. Marissa could've added more dark parts in this book, giving us more peeks into what the Queen of Hearts has truly become.

I know most people did not find this novel enjoyable. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It has its flaws but the tale itself was interesting. I do like to imagine this is a standalone and it should have never been a part of the Vampire Chronicles. Anything but aliens.. ridiculous.
