Don’t fall for the nice cover. DNF’d after 35 pages - complete mess of a book and the mum was throwing tantrums like a toddler every other paragraph and the daughter was allowing it. Just pissed me off

I don’t usually like to read Christmas themed books but after receiving this in my words to wine subscription I thought I would give it a go. I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I didn’t want to put this book down, it was gripping and compelling from the first page, the writing made it an easy and fast paced read, and the case was interesting and it held my attention throughout.

I loved the dark twist on a child’s Christmas list, it had you guessing how the next murder was going to be committed. I won’t lie I had an inkling half way through on how it was going to end but that did not stop me from being surprised when everything came together at the end.

The only thing stopping me from rating it a 5 is that some of the characters could have had abit more development and back story.

Overall, I highly recommend this book! It had me hooked from the first page and I really didn’t want to put it down. I really hope that there is a sequel to this book as there was a little cliffhanger plus I would just like more of DI Tom Stonem!

I don’t think any review I write will do this book any justice. It was a fantastic read! And look at that cover! 😍

This book was a thought-provoking, complex, uncomfortable and confronting read as it explores the dark side of celebrity culture, exploitation in the industry and the boundaries of consent. The book is set into 3 separate parts and told from Roses point of view. I found this to be incredibly well written and an accurate representation of the topic around consent, it’s very evident that Olivia took her time writing this novel.

I highly recommend everyone pick up a copy! I would double check for trigger warnings as it does discuss some difficult topics. Can’t wait to see what else Olivia Petters brings out!
