I’m just in shock like … how was she this intelligent? it’s a disservice to call her psychic but I think she was just paying a lot more attention n was a lot more insightful than many. I love everything I’ve read by Octavia Butler she’s amazing and it is gorgeous reading this in graphic novel form! So happy I read this 🥰
hi i began this in high school (now 7+ years ago lol happy new year! <3) *but* i just got an audio book format bc i do want to finish it n this way i can try audio books n fulfill two prompts from the 2023 onboarding challenge hehe (least read format & longer than the longest i read in 2023) + i loved the series and the audio book i got is a dramatization, not sure if its w the cast of the series or what but im excited! so its not a real DNF but rather a im finishing in a diff format
Consumed this book in a single sitting. I feel heard and seen and awake to so many things 🥰💗
What a pleasure to read & feel affirmed :’) so thankful this book came into my realm of knowledge / awareness!! s/o all the queer, south Asian writers!! love you!!
Frankly I picked this up because the cover looked interesting to me and the synopsis seemed decent. Maybe I’ll give it another go in the future but it just felt very “white person writing about mystical Indigenous populations” if that makes sense? I also personally just didn’t love the writing style. There also seemed to be more hunting at / implications of sexual violence than I’d really anticipated (not that I’d anticipated much / any..) and for me that was just too triggering and not worth it esp bc it was difficult for me to get into the writing or plot anyways.
