this is for the religious trauma girlies.

great concept but not the greatest execution. this was a super short book, and i wish it could've been longer so we could see rose's faith crisis. we didn't really get to see her deconstruction, it was just an immediate shift so it was harder to buy. her character also felt incredibly young - this read like ya.

low 3 star. this one lost me... the first one was so much better.

i would classify this one more as suspense than romance. that said, none of the motivations of the characters made sense except maybe zade. i felt like plot elements and character involvements were added for shock value, but wasn't developed in a way to also make sense.

this was also a long ass book and it felt long. this was repetitive, and i don't think we needed over 250 pages of torture and graphic rape scenes to understand the trauma adeline was experiencing.

also sibel was so annoying pls. h.d. carlton is writing a book with sibel as the main character and i will NOT be reading that, thank you :)

i read this out of morbid curiosity and...i fear i somehow enjoyed this.

**adult readers with a developed frontal lobe knows the difference between reality and fiction, and understands that none of this would be okay in the real world. before reading any dark romance, know & check content warnings. this has noncon and dubcon.**

the twist at the end was good, but the rest i was kind of pushing myself through.

i picked this up in the middle of haunting adeline before getting to the satan's affair chapter towards the last third of the book. i enjoyed the introduction to zade here, but otherwise it was a little too much for me. i can handle gore, but i specifically can't stomach eye gore and there is a lot of that in this book. there's also a scene with a bat that...yeah, i had to take a lap.

3 stars. intriguing, but logically had some questions that made it hard to suspend my disbelief.
