This is a book that made me angry, made me cry (though that was mostly my own circumstances and my own doing, but it still did) , made me very very anxious, made my heart feel constricted and so many other feelings. The first half of the book made me very listless for the flaws in the writing and the characters' inconsistencies kept bothering me, enough to not let me drown in the story. But after the second half, my god. I just couldn't stop. The writing got better, much mote consistent, there was no un-established magical realism. The characters were true to themselves and expanding, and the narrative voices were distinct and well-structured. I felt Heer and Ranjha's pain, I wanted to tear Kaido Langda apart, my heart wept for Sehti and Seida's lives, Seida's mother made me feel calm. This is a beautiful book and a beautiful story, one I would be re-read in parts many times.
