Frustrating, but apparently it's supposed to be? I felt smothered by the bureaucracy of it, which again, seems to be the point? It terrified me to a certain extent. I think this is one of those books that's less about a "story" and more about how reading it makes you feel?

Absolutely beautiful! Dysfunctional family, the pain of losing a part of your life, the unsettling cry expressed in Act 2 of, "why did you not try hard enough for me?". I loved it. The straitjacket ~ sign for love part was a wonderful ending.

Informative. The writing is thought-provoking and makes you see the cities of North and Western India in a new light. South India is covered in name only. I felt a strong undercurrent of the author's personal biases towards the end of the book - in the last two chapters.
