Overall: B-
"A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons" is a decent time-killer, but it doesn't quite break new ground. The writing is easy to follow, but the pacing drags significantly in the middle.  Saffron Everleigh, the protagonist, is engaging, but her rash decisions make it difficult to believe she's working in a scientific field. The romance felt forced, though not unpleasant. While the mystery itself piqued my interest, the exploration of the poisonous plants felt underdeveloped.  I read using both ebook and audio formats, and the audiobook narrator did a great job keeping me engaged. I will try the next book as I hope Saffron's botanical skills are expanded upon there.
