This one surprised me. While it’s light on plot exploration and heavy on the spice, the writing was actually quite good for this trope. Yes, it ends on an annoyance (not a cliffhanger) but not sure if I would spend the credit to find out the outcome.

Narrators: Marie Hawkins and CJ Grey
Now, as an audible addict I have to say this production was sub par. Errors in production were evident and the voices were not as enjoyable as other audible productions.

ARTICULATION - clean, clear, precise (albeit too precise on occasions)
BREATHING – controlled, volume is consistent, projection is appropriate, low mouth noise
DELIVERY – editing issues throughout.
EYE BRAIN MOUTH CONTROL – accurate on most occasions
CONSISTENT – lacking energy, poor articulation within various characters.
ANALYSIS – story arc and characters not delivered well.
CHARACTERISATION – lacking in tone, attitude, age, and accent. Voices were a poor match to characters.
SEPARATION- some spillover between narrator and character.
INVESTMENT – lacked emotionally connection to the story which lead to a poor picture vocally.
STORY:
Ok folk, if you have read the Becka Mack series Playing for Keeps, you will be disappointed with this book. Very closely related in content but not executed as crisply or exquisitely as Becka Mack’s writing. I would suggest you read this first, then read Becka Mack for the next standard.
The story plot was a little disappointing and predictable. It would have been lovely to hear of more of the other characters woven throughout to build the anticipation of the next book. Not worth a full audible credit (luckily I didn’t as on got this one on a sale day).

There are far better ménage tropes out there to delve into. This one for me, was a lot of hype and not a lot of substance. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love a good paranormal, vampire, supernatural vibe, but this one seemed too forced.

For an Audible Plus freebie, this was a great read. A lovely story with some spice. A lovely ear bud nibble. A couple of plot errors but that can be overlooked.
