Such an interesting concept, beautifully illustrated as always by the talented Shuzo Oshimi. A story about a young man who one day wakes up as a high schooler girl. A girl named Mari who he was previously obsessed with and literally stalked.
At the beginning it seems like they traded places but when confronted his own body and the guy didn’t know Mari he starts to worry about where the real Mary is.
This volume was full of emotions with the element of mystery surrounding where Mari is. I had such a great time, can’t wait to continue with the next volume.
𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 is a Hungarian novel I think it’s categorized as dark fantasy but I would definitely consider this more as a horror book.
𝐅𝐨𝐱, 𝐁𝐚𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐫, 𝐖𝐨𝐥𝐟, 𝐂𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐏𝐢𝐠 - this is their tale a very gruesome, wicked and tragic tale. Wow, this book was brutal. I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. My previous reads were let downs so I just wanted to have a great time reading this one and let me tell you, I had a fantastic time! I truly never read anything similar to this one.
This definitely not for the faint of heart but if you’re a Hungarian horror lover looking for something totally different and raw then don’t hesitate to pick this book up. It was a masterpiece.
After putting down the book days ago and literally forgetting that I even started it I decided to DNF it at 51% into the novella. I’m especially disappointed because this is the third book in a row that I haven’t enjoyed…
Only a 144 pages long but this just felt so unnecessary long. I was enjoying the beginning of the book it made me super intrigued and I was curious to see where the story was heading but as the story progressed it kinda felt dragged out and boring. Although it’s an extreme horror it didn’t grabbed my attention as much as I wanted to. Yes, there were some great and gory scenes but other than that I was let down by the experience.
I just want to start my review by saying that clown horror is my absolute favorite so my expectations were high going into this novella. I was a little disappointed by this one unfortunately, as a horror lover I wanted more gore and brutality since this was technically an extreme horror I wished for more extremity. I mean there were definitely some gory scenes and there was one with killing an animal so be aware of that going into the story.
But overall I expected more, I found this an average read but not one that I will remember or ponder on.
Wow the epilogue was definitely my favorite part of this novella, it did an excellent job wrapping up the story.
𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝 unquestionably wasn’t the story I expected going into a shark horror novella. Solely based on the cover and the title I was hoping for more gore and thrill but all I got was disappointment. By any means this wasn’t a bad book, for what it was, it was a great read. A book about a Megalodon and surviving after meeting with the shark, being on a tiny island with nothing on it. It was a very slow paced story though, while it had some more brutal aspects like cannibalism it wasn’t the type of book I was looking for.
With that being said if you’re looking for a story of a Megalodon, treasures and a survival story then you might enjoy this one.
My most favorite genre is horror so I feel like I’m always more critical reviewing a horror book and this was a short story collection which is another favorite of mine.
I really wanted to love this, looking at the gorgeous cover this book seemed promising but unfortunately this was a huge disappointment for me. None of the stories were gripping to me, they weren’t even spooky let alone scary or terrifying.
I’ve read 32% of the book before deciding to stop reading it.
This was such a deeply rooted story, discussing grief, trauma and including the most amazing tropes like: who did this to you?, bad boy/good girl, he falls first, slow burn and he also reads her favorite book 😭
I’m in love with Heath, I’m literally melting thinking about him, he’s such a sweet, bad boy who wants to seem so tough but in reality he’s the most genuine person ever who been through so much. His grief resonates me very strongly as I lost my father when I was only eight.
Unfortunately this was a huge letdown for me. I expected a horror poetry collection with the final girl element, but this was not it.
I decided to stop reading the book at 50% because I didn’t understood anything that was going on neither did I enjoyed it nor spooked by it. The writing style was beautiful I need to admit but this book definitely wasn’t for me, I’m just happy I realized it in time and didn’t forced myself to finish reading a book that I wasn’t even liking.
This book was so gripping and exciting. Gory, erotic, honestly everything you could ever want in a splatter erotica and more. I loved Alex she’s so different and I adored the possum Garbage, it gave such a fun element to the novella.
I highly recommend this book to any extreme horror lover who wants something short and spicy!
Thank you so much Aiden for providing me an ARC of your fantastic story for my honest review. 🖤
The epilogue was crazy! I won’t say I didn’t expected it to happen but it was still shocking…
This book was so much different than I expected it to be going into, mostly because I never read the synopsis and honestly I’m glad I didn’t. I really liked the storyline of the book, it was a unique way to weave together the past and present. All the traumas and deeply hidden secrets slowly resurfacing. The writing style was brilliant, all the characters had deep backgrounds and they all felt so real. I need to say that I didn’t really liked the epilogue but other than that it was an excellent book.
This was such an emotional and empowering story that I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a truly gripping thriller.
