Absolute perfection for a cozy fantasy! I loved Rebecca Thorne's writing and I'm obsessed with her characters. This had a great balance of cozy storyline with the bookshop and action for the mysteries and consequences. I'm also so glad we got dual perspective in this! I will be picking up the sequel immediately upon it's release!
I really enjoyed this take on a retelling of Cinderella's story! It was a clever twist and I enjoyed how the classic characters of that story were used alongside the new characters introduced. Honestly, it took me quite a bit of time getting used to the FMC. I got pretty annoyed with Sophia's relationship with Erin and how forced it was. My favorite part was the cotillion scene and how everything came together. Overall, while this wasn't my favorite of Kalynn Bayron's work, I'd still recommend picking it up if interested in retellings and her writing is a favorite of mine!
I really love the characters and Seattle-setting of this series! Alexandria Bellefleur's writing just pulls you in and has you hooked from start to end. I liked where this second book brought us and the (childhood) friends to lovers trope x best friend's brother trope we got to see. While the romance was very cute, I think the dynamics with the side characters had more of my attention - I really loved Darcy and Annie's friendship, and I loved seeing the whole group together the most.
This feels like a good book/wrong time sort of situation. There are several aspects to this book that I like, especially the magical school setting! However, I'm not feeling pulled to read it, so I'm putting it down and may try again another time.
I adore Alice Oseman's writing - the characters she creates are so lovable and I am hooked from to start to finish of her books. I know I would've been especially obsessed with this book had I read it as a teenager. Tori Spring is one of my favorite and most relatable characters I have read.
I was so intrigued by this book after hearing from the author that it was written based off of the world from the TV show Supernatural and that the MMC was based on a young Dean - I was sold, I had to try it! Sadly, at just a bit over 30% in, I am not interested in what is going on and am not enjoying the characters. I briefly tried the audiobook with it, and while the narrators were good, it still couldn't pull me into the story.
I was so hopeful I would like this because I love Backman’s other books. I just cannot get into this one! I wasn’t a huge fan of Britt-Marie as a side character in “My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry”, but I am really not a fan of her as a main character.
