It's not that it wasn't good but I just didn't care for any of the characters enough
Also, I don't mind that the author doesn't really explain what the grand jeu is but I do mind that she didn't explain what it's place in this society is (very light spoiler)

why are there people being persecuted? especially why christians? why does the grand jeu exist and why does the goverment finance it? why does it want to control it so much? what's the belief system in this society? I could go on...

Also, this book could've been absolutley queer and the fact that it isn't annoys me

The start and the ending were just perfect for me, they got me absolutley hooked and not wanting to put down the book. However the middle got a little muddy for me when all the new characters are introduced way too fast... but that might have been just me being distracted tbh.
I would really want to reread and see if my rating changes.

I think the plot got too convoluted. Since the begining I didn't like the addition of Eliza to the main cast of characters and I stand by that. I loved the world that this saga has and I just think this book expanded on it a little too much.
That being said, I loved the way the ending was written (even thou I think it could've ended sooner) and some of the plot twist actually cought me off guard.
