Arc given by netgalley.
A solid poem collection!
I enjoyed the poets voice, the way she used language and her prose. It’s not the best collection I’ve read by any stretch but it’s sure isn’t the worst.

what i find most strange about this boom is this quote “This is not actually a book about One Direction, for a couple of reasons: I don’t think they’d appreciate it, and, as much as I love them, they are not so interesting. (They are boys, and we are the same age.)”, which is fair. However, it’s totally incorrect. It is a book about One Direction, all the way through. Only few paragraphs are about other fandoms (such as the Beatles, Bruce Springsteen & BTS).

If you are not a fan of One Direction, you will probably dislike this book. It’s completely about One Direction & the fandom. Whether the writer admits it or not.

I did enjoy most of it. The nostalgia ran deep.
I do think claims of Liam’s homophobia are more substantial than just the Girl Almighty situation, there was the duck dynasty, both ways & his open hostility to rainbow direction (which is more than just larry. yes larry is analysed at length in this too)

disclaimer: i have been a stan of 1D for over a decade. idk how many nights i lost sleep over those boys
