i was creeped out 88% of this book. the last 12% dragged, plus the ending did not deliver. gm giving it 4⭐️'s because i was really intrigued for most of the book, but the end like how all she does is tell the creature the secret, then tells him he’s not allowed to kill her, and he just…. accepts it and leaves ….? like please. i wish it was that easy. it just seemed like a lazy ending but regardless this kept me so intrigued

this book was really good, i really enjoyed it, the writing was simple but i feel like the book itself is so much more complicated than that. however, i didn't feel the punch like i wished to something was lacking, i don't really know exactly what it was but no didn't connect with the characters add much as I wanted to. But regardless I was intrigued the whole time and i really enjoyed the book. this is more of a character study than plot based but i really enjoyed that.

i feel so much and so little about this book. there are no poems i would die for, but it isn't horrible. just minus points because of whom Charles was as a person.

this book made me want to be a poet. to make magic with words. to carve out beautiful, vivid, life-filled moments, to define grief or lust or both together just as the author does. so many in this collection were absolutely gorgeous. I'm definitely coming back to this again later. i read this as an ebook and i have to get the paperback so i can annotate it and comeback to it asap. i connected to so many poems in this collection here are just some of my favorite quotes.
“I relied on a Miracle Fish, once, in New York City, to tell me my fortune. That was before I knew it was my body’s water that moved it, that the massive ocean inside me was what made the fish swim.”
"J said, You don’t believe in God? And I said, No. I believe in this connection we all have to nature, to each other, to the universe. And she said, Yeah, God. And how we stood there, low beasts among the white oaks, Spanish moss, and spider webs, obsidian shards stuck in our pockets, woodpecker flurry, and I refused to call it so. "

this was kind of up and down for me, and some of the poems seemed to be gimmicky or jokey, but there are enough good lines to make it worth your while. it is definitely one of the better modern poetries collection's out there.

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MANGAS IN THE SERIES SO FAR! IT WAS SO EMOTIONAL I MEAN LITERALLY EJI SAYING FOR ASK TO GO TO JAPAN WITH HIM. AFTER EVERYTHING IS OVER BECAUSE IT IS SAFIER OVER THERE FOR HIM “I wish I could go.”well, I really want to take you.”
I GENUINELY would take a bullet for ash and eiji so they could go to Japan together. i dont care what i would have to sacrifice i just WANT THEM TO BE TOGETHER AND HAPPY GODAMIIT.
AND THEN WHEN ASH SAID TO EJI WHILE HE WAS SLEEPING “...over my dead body. If anybody hurts you it’ll be over my dead body. I don’t care who it is. I am not letting anybody hurt you, Eiji.” FREAKING OH M GOD. DOES HE WANT TO MAKE ME CRY.
AND THIS IS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY THIS ONE IS ONE OF MY FAVS. WHEN yut-Lung offered him the gun, and said they’d leave eiji alone if he shot himself, AND ASH JUST LIFTED THE GUN AND PULLED THE TRIGGER WITHOUT HESITATION, LIKE WHERE IS MY PERSON WHO WOULD DO THAT. GOD WTF, JUST KNOWING HOW MUCH HE CARES ABOUT EJI JUST BREAKS MY HEART BECAUSE THESE STUPID PEOPLE WANT TO GET IN THEIR WAY OF HAPPINESS..and then ash telling blanca ''until now. I know there’s at least one person in the world who cares about me. Who doesn’t want anything from me. And that’s worth more to me than anything.” LIKE OMG YOU'RE KILLING ME ASH YOU DESERVE TOO HAPPY MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. AND THEN ASH ASKING ONE THING OF BLANCA.. “Don't kill him. Please, don’t hurt him. Let him go, please Blanca.” ...i have no words jus tears.

i mean i could never rate a banana fish manga less than almost 5 stars..it just doesn't feel right. the whole series is incredible, and things didn't change for me for this one either. it was funny and engaging the whole time. i am so excited to read the next one.

this book was average for me. i blanked out on a lot of these chapters, but then a poignant quote about society would have me pensive and thinking about it for at least another few pages. i wouldn’t say i was bored, but i wasn’t fully there, either. however, i can see how others would find this inspiring and engaging.
