This book was way more than I expected it to be. I expected a mysterious, dark ambience with some japanese culture and decent characters. But this plot has a big disturbing turn to it. This is a book where the main character is not the "hero". Every interaction felt very unnatural and weird to me with him. At some point I just wanted to throw my book against my wall because his acting and interactions made me so angry. But then on the same page the the describing of scenarios was so well written and magical that the overall vibe and ambience added such a great feeling and concep to the book
If the book would have been only out of Kafkas viewpoint I probably would have gone crazy. The diversion between Nakatas and Kafkas viewpoint really balanced this out.
-So this book made me really emotional but I still enjoyed reading it at the end. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to everyone since it's very obscure and critical.
!Also I want to point out that you should not look for well written female characters. Mostly the female characters are only in this book to be a crutch to the male characters. The interactions with woman in this book were almost all the time sexual founded.
