Kindle | 2/5. The ending of this book was definitely a 4 star finale. But I cannot get over the chaotic beginning.

Positively, I love honor and respect the identity crises that both MCs are going through; especially the palpable and honest witness to depression, anxiety, and PTSD. In addition, to see how the strength in each MC helps the weakness in the other when they cannot help themself; chefs kiss. I also had a lot of highlighted wisdom that is so beautiful and true. “But lately (silence) has become more of a force field to keep people out.” <— very relatable.

But the beginning was just so chaotic. Maybe to parallel Hallie, but it was hard to follow. If I ignore the first 50%, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. But as a whole, sadly, 2

5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was everything I needed it to be while in vacation. It was also just remarkably hilarious and adorable. Great writing style that kept the plot moving when it needed to and still when a pause was worthy. Love!

Kindle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is my first Emily Henry read and she has a beautiful writing style. The plot kept moving. I love the past and present chapters and the timing of how things unfold. While I hate a third act breakup - oh well. “And even on those days when one or both of us is having a hard time, we’ll be here, where we are completely known, completely accepted, by the person whose every side we love wholeheartedly.”

Paperback | 3.5-4…conflicted. I just can’t get over how I don’t like Alina because I don’t know Alina! I think there was so much potential in this series but such lacking development. The ending with Daddy Darkling, I felt robbed. Nikolai - felt rushed and underdeveloped. Mal and Alina - funny how I wasn’t team Mal until the ending. I loved the ending! But even then I wasn’t that happy because I was like who are these people??? I don’t know them! Ugh. I’m frustrated. So much potential with little follow through IMO.
The main redeeming thing of this series was the fantasy portion. I think the world building was greattttt

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Unpopular opinion I liked Zee and Vee more than Ryan and Indy. I was able to relate more to Vee which is probably why. While I respect the development of Ryan A LOT, I really liked the protective side that came out when confronting Alex. I would’ve appreciate that more throughout the whole book. Also, IMO, the epilogue was too long. Regardless, I love this little family, and it fills my heart! It was difficult to put down! Quick but long read :)

Reluctantly a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ not a 5 for me! It took me probably 55% to be invested in this story which is a while for me. The only reason I didn’t DNF was because of all of the hype. But I am so glad that I finished because the second half of the book was out of this world!
I love a good messy ending. Everything that was built and developed was completely turned upside down and I loved that! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ending! I cant wait to start #2 after letting this one simmer for a bit! Ugh. I’m probably gonna re-read this soon. So good! I’m SURE that book 2 is going to be amazing but the build up of this one was a little too dragged out for me which is why I’m overall at a 4 not a 5

I did not think that this was going to be 5 stars for me but then it was. I’m not even gonna complain about the third act breakup which I hate. This is my fave EH so far without having read Happy Place yet. Her writing is just so smooth and engaging. You start the book and the next thing you know you finished it without even trying to.

I’m so impressed with the connection that was made between audience and characters in such a short book! I really enjoyed this Novella. I was as attached to it as I was a full novel which is hard to to! I’m impressed :)
