I really enjoyed this book. The writing was simple but elegant. The author created a vivid world with a cast of characters whose lives intersect. I learned a bit about how life was for folks in Korea during this time period, which I've never been exposed to before. I highly recommend this book!

This book was well paced and thoroughly researched. The writing made it read like a novel but always with the understanding that this impacted soamy real people and we've (US residents) haven't been exposed to a lot of these stories. I loved how the author brought the impact of these murders up to the modern day, showing how these traumas can echo through generations. I'm looking forward to reading other books by this author.
This book was very informative on many different aspects of the human body. It definitely isn't inclusive of trans people and I wasn't wild about all the fat phobia. It was entertaining and informative enough, and I realize trying to encapsulate the myriad processes of the human body into an easily accessible book is a tall order.
I know this book is having a revival and I was bummed I didn't like it more. It didn't do much for me. The writing was perfectly fine, the interaction of the characters got on my nerves. Every bit of dialogue was incredibly vague. Questions given by one character were answered with another question by another character. It was a slower pace than I prefer. I get that it was a different time and gay folks couldn't exactly be out and proud back then. I'll give the movie a shot and see if I like it better, I just didn't really connect with any of these characters.
