The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
3.0
I'm not a hundred percent sure about her writing style or about the cleverness of the plot but I didn't want to put it out of my hands either. "A bit too long" was the first thought that came into my head. Despite the flaws I enjoyed reading it and if I could I would give it 3½ stars because I do think it was slightly above average.

The Green Chamber of the Linnainen Mansion
First I thought I could give it three stars but... No, it wasn't that great. Not utterly hideous but really boring if not counting the ghost scene.

Medieval Civilization 400 - 1500 by Jacques Le Goff

Open University's Cultural History course book
The early chapters were a nightmare because of all the lists of barbarian attacks. It just got me all dizzy and I wished he would have just told about the ones that were of great signifigance to medieval culture. Also, some of the foreign language phrases weren't even translated. Not all bad but it came across as a bit too heavy for me.

A Noble Duty: Woman as an Official in the End of 19th Century Finland
Open University's Cultural History course book
Deals with being a teacher by examining the lives of three women but also in general the position of a working woman when gender segregation was strong. Or at least it should. It gave a very light aftertaste: I don't really know anything about being a teacher at that time more than before. The title is misleading because there's mostly info on what the position of women were.
And there's lots of sentence repeating, sometimes even after only a couple of chapters. Another thing that irritated me was the lack of translation of Swedish quotes. Now I strongly disagree with the author that they supposedly don't even need one. I suck at Swedish even though I live in Finland so I would really appreciate knowing what they said.
