The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis
5.0
I normally read books in hopes that I will be frustrated that they are over so soon, which is exactly how I felt with this one. I related to every character in some way, and didn't at all mind the format since the book ended up reading like an interconnected collection of abstract short stories. Well worth the buy!
Catwalk by Deborah Gregory

Don't know how I forgot to mark this one. I'm rating it as with four stars out of respect for my once idol Deborah Gregory, and all others hopelessly stuck in the black urban streets of the 90's.
Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances by Maureen Johnson, John Green, Lauren Myracle
2.0
Reminder not to read romance YA stories. Even to sound more well-read than my John Green and Maureen Johnson obsessive peers.
Serena by Ron Rash

Well, this book was beautiful. I'm of the persuasion that any book that tells a good story has no bounds of genre. I've told everyone I know about it after finishing it within the last few hours.
I'd recommend NOT reading the front cover or reviews that go into what the book entails, because both will tell a lot. If you don't mind knowing the plot of a book before you read it, don't worry. You'll still enjoy it immensely, even if parts are spoiled for you (like they were for me). I can't even express how engaging this book was.
Can't wait for the movie!
