Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
5.0
This is my first @karinslaughterauthor book, and WOW, was I blown away! The storyline kept me engaged the whole time. I was completely invested in Claire and Lydia and getting to the truth about their sister, Julia. I think this book really portrays the sadisticness behind some serial killers' minds and motives. I can't go into too much more detail about the goings on in the book or I'll spoil it, but trust me when I say, you want a thriller, READ THIS BOOK!!!!
Every Missing Girl by Leanne Kale Sparks

I loved the 1st Kendall Beck book so much. I love the police procedural aspect that reflects so much Law & Order SVU, but this one had some different vibes.
It had a very intriguing storyline with her close friend and fellow law enforcement pal's missing niece. But what I had a hard time with was the ending of the book seemed to fall flat. It was such a sad, abrupt ending. It felt like even the epiloge didn't give it any closure. With the newly found evidence and break I was hoping for more tests and interviews and descriptions of what happens and what the original plans were.
I will absolutely read another book from Leanne Kale Sparks. I think her writing is fantastic! I love her thrillers!
Please check her out! You won't be disappointed!

What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall

HoLy Sh*t was that a phenomenally written novel! This novel starts out where 3 girls come out of an unfortunate event inside an event in their local woods where one girl, Claire, barely defeats death by stabbing by a well-known serial killer. Flash forward to twenty some years later when they meet back up after the announcement of said serial killers' death in prison by cancer.
The girls have something important to discuss, but it's not what you think. Can they handle this discussion?
At the same time, Ethan, a podcaster, appears to interview the girls about the original crime. Could he have an anterior motive?
There are so many moving pieces that Claire is trying to piece together to make sense of everything, will she figure out if she made the right decision back when?
This was an awesome "who dun it" book. I was in suspense on the edge of my seat the whole time. And the twists at the end....WOW. did NOT see them coming! Perfectly written!

I've been dying to read this book for quite a while now. I finally got around to it, and the beginning was a little slow for me. It didn't quite grab me right at the beginning. But the further into it go, the more I waited for that moment to finally hit me. Then it did, and from there on, it was like a rollercoaster that doesn't stop!
The dynamics between all 6 friends are so surreal that you feel like you're there with them. It's crazy to realize after the book that it's been only 1 evening that this all happened.
I don't want to spoil this at all because I do recommend this read. It was a very fast-paced, but I didn't see it being who it was in the end, and I didn't expect that to be the actual secret!

You Did This by Jamie Millen

I've never heard of this author before this book. I stumbled across this audiobook by typing Freida McFadden into my @scribd app, and this was a suggested book. I'm so glad I picked it (not knowing it was 1 of a 3 part series).
The narrator was perfect for this book. She kept you engaged, and I imagined it was actually Claire Wolf thr main character speaking to me. The book involves a lot of police procedures and whodunit questions around every corner. There are so many suspects, and you think you've figured it out, but it's only halfway through the book.
It starts out when Claire and her sister Tina are in school and something terrible happens to Tina. Unfortunately, no one knows what happened, but Claire's mom swears it was Claire's fault. Fast Forward 12 years; Detective Claire Wolf of the Boston Police Department requests to be moved to Newburgh PD; back home to solve her sister's murder.
Will she find the killer? Or will you have to wait until the next two books?

What Happens After Midnight by K.L. Walther

I thought this was a great YA mystery with an underlying bit of romance. It included a lot of intriguing suspense, with a soothing feeling of homey-ness. I thought it was a good book with a fun storyline. I would definitely recommend it!
Lily Hopper receives a secret email to meet at midnight and be part of the jester's team for a senior prank. With 2 weeks left of school, how will they pull this off when no one is allowed outside at night on campus. Also, what ever could top last year's prank, and who is the jester?
WHAT COULD GO WRONG?
Lily is in for so many surprises as the night unfolds, she may even surprises herself!

The Birthday Reunion by Claire Seeber

This book had great short chapters with an awesome breathtaking ending. However, it was definitely a long, slow burn for me. It had some good suspenseful bits and kept you guessing why this was happening and who was behind it, but it seemed to get lost between the back and forth of the then and now.
Jodie invites her 3 old friends (Simone, Vicky, Hannah) to come on an all expenses paid posh vacation for her 40th birthday. They all haven't been together in years, and the 3 friends aren't too keen on seeing Jodie again, let alone spending a whole vacation celebrating her. Weird things start happening once they're on their way, and once they arrive at Ibiza, Jodie is nowhere to be found.
Once she finally shows up, she acts like she doesn't know why they're there. And many creepy things start happening. No wifi, no way off the island, weird notes, and missing knives.
Will they end up making up and get out alive?

This is my first @stacyvwillingham book, and I thought the storyline was very interesting. The book seemed to grab me in the beginning and plateau in parts. The ending, however, I did NOT see coming. (Like whoa)
You Made Me by Jamie Millen
5.0
This is the 2nd audiobook I listened to by Jamie Millen, in this 3 book series. I loved the first one and this book also did not disappoint!
It picked up right where The last book ended where Claire Wolf felt like someone was watching her ever move from a distance, and someone was. But who was he and why. Then a high profile murder happens and Claire is sucked in by a new "calling card" with her name on it from the perp. But she has no ties to the victim, what is the angle?
As the book goes on you start to see how the secret stalker has a hidden agenda that they are carrying out in someone else's name with Claire being at the forefront of that plan.
Without revealing too much of the book, this is a great police procedural book about a serial killer with a vendetta and a master plan.
I didnt quite give it 5 stars because I didn't feel as many big twists and wow moments as the first book.
This one was more suspenseful for me, hanging onto every word hoping for Claire to get the bad guy in the end.
I highly recommend this series. I can't wait to finish the third book!

How to Survive Your Murder by Danielle Valentine

This was my first YA and first horror book, and I LOVED it! I didn't feel like it was terrifying, but it did remind me of Scream for high schoolers.
It starts with a traditional Halloween corn maze scene, where Alice, her sister Claire, and some friends have gone for a party. But this party turns deadly.
Flash forward to the murder trial that Alice is testifying at. There is a huge crowd chanting that she's making a huge mistake, but deep down, she knows who she saw that night. Maybe she just needs a little bathroom break.
Boom! The next thing she knows, she's back to that night and given a second chance....
What will she do with it? Change the future, or keep the past?
