The Shadow Cabinet by Juno Dawson
5.0
I loved it as much as the first one! I did roll my eyes a bit when Luke turned out to be a secret with finder (major spoiler) and wasn't taken with that arc, but it tied into the ending really well. The book wraps up quite nicely, but like the previous one ends on a Big Cliffhanger...

This was fine. Very predictable, a bit trite. The ending was lovely, but it is too long and bloated with stuff that doesn't matter.

Still kind of reeling from the cliffhanger tbh. Can't believe Dawson did that to me.
I really loved this! It's not perfect, but my enjoyment of it was!
I called Theo's Secret the moment it's mentioned that warlocks aren't usually adepts. Of course, the characters don't know they're living in a novel involving gender based magic in the year of our lord 2022 so can be forgiven for missing the Trans element. The transfobia was sad and I would think Helena's reaction was a but over the top, had I not seen JKR (the Mundane High Priestess of TERFery in the UK) burn her world down on this very issue...
Truly majestic narration by Nicola Coughlan.

Some beautiful parts and an interesting look at the life of AKR. A bit too repetitive and sappy for my tastes though
