The first half of this book was intriguing. And it felt like a winding path, I had no idea where it was going. And then the last 100 pages chewed me up and spit me out with no warning. Brilliant and gut wrenching and the whole time I felt like I had no idea what was going on. A good read.

Did not finish book.
I really couldn't get into this, too slow, and I genuinely did not know why I should care about what was going on behind the wall. Onto better things!

This is a story about love and sacrifice and the boldness of queer love. I was absolutely delighted and captivated throughout the entire novel, and cried. Cried a lot.

I have neither the time nor the patience for cishet white men to write stories about queer characters simply to murder them or leave them in pain, isolated and self-hating. Skip the read, there are better things out there. Also, the fact that Baru is an account is really effing lame.
