- Premise: I am am adult giving this review of a young adult fiction novel-

As someone who enjoys thrillers such as girl on a train and gone girl, the sort of fucked up mental games played in this novel kept my rapt attention. As other reviews mention, I feel obligated to state I am not the target audience for young adult fiction. While seemingly inopportune scenes between dating high schoolers, parties and class quizzes might have pulled me away from the plot, I know they were likely engaging for others. I myself was homeschooled, and know how much I fixated on different interpretations of secondary education. This book is a slam dunk, and a good reminder that often critiques can stem from not being an authors ideal reader, and I'm okay with that.
