Fantastic book! There were some common romantasy tropes by the end, but even so, this was truly an enchanting world. I would've loved to have spent more time in the main character's realm (called Wildling) but really enjoyed the parts of the realms we got to see (it reminded me of the RPG "Overlight" if Overlight was a booktok-y fantasy read). The idea of a cursed island trapped in a cursed storm for 100 years and a centennial game to bring all the rulers together to try and break the curse was a really cool quest concept to me. Plus the characters who were meant to be were really quite lovable (and the villains appropriately villainous!)

If you liked this you would probably like the Dance of Thieves duology & The Last Hours trilogy!

A great, accessible read with characters you enjoy reading about and that you root for, plus an interesting/gripping plot. Would make a good book club book or beach read for anyone who doesn’t want anything super cerebral but still enjoyable!

Heartbreaking, poignant, and lovely. Raw, painful, bleak, abundant, a song, and a prayer. Beautiful prose, poetic and lyrical beats, this woman’s family’s story pushes and pulls at something deep inside of anyone who has ever had to deal with unsettling family dynamics and the  way we wrestle forever with forgiveness and reconciliation—not just with others, but with who we become because of our parents and who we want to be despite them.
