Like Lucy Cooke’s first book, I knew this was going to be funny and informative but I did not realize how healing it would be. And honestly, a little enraging too. How different would our society be if the pioneer scientists hadn’t let cultural norms and biases influence their research? It’s equal parts wild and completely unsurprising that we are only just beginning to unravel it.
What a swoony and spicy delight this was! The writing was so well done, I could feel the music even though I couldn’t hear it. Julie Soto, welcome to my auto-buy author club!
I was worried I wasn’t going to connect with this one because Hattie comes off as a little silly in the first two books but I was amazed at how much depth was brought to her character. I related to her so much and watching her find herself was so healing. I cannot speak highly enough about this series. I love that mixed in with this sweet romance, are deeply important, thought provoking themes. I’m sad I have only one book left!
Another perfect installment. I love this series so much, I’m torn between pacing myself so I can enjoy it longer or devouring the rest of the books immediately.
I am so mad I waited so long to read this series! I knew almost instantly this was going to be a 5 star read. The yearning alone just impaled my heart and that was before I got to the spice. Excuse me while I immediately purchase and devour the rest of the series…
Hot damn I love this series so much. The world is so unique without being overly complicated. I love the humor and the campiness (I need an elephant delivering my mail immediately) but it’s still packed with so much heart. I particularly love the focus on the extra emotional and physical labor a wife/mom takes on in their life. So many of us are reading these romances as an escape from this very thing. It was so healing to watch Twyla reclaim her life and realize she was worthy of so much more. My only complaint (but this is just personal preference, I still enjoyed the story) I just wish we got some POVs from Frank. I go absolutely feral when one character is head over heels in love in their POVs while the other character remains clueless in theirs.
This was sweet at times but mostly it was just disappointing. What was that ending?! I had such high hopes after The Seven Year Slip but this just did not hit the same.
