Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
I've been kind of burnt out on adult fantasy, I used to read almost nothing but fantasy but the last ten years or so I've just not been able to find much that held my attention and I've been reading almost exclusively YA instead.
This book changed everything. Who knew that fantasy could be so deeply layered yet still so accessible? The worldbuilding in this is sublime. So many books smack you in the face with exposition in the first page and never really stop. Reading this, however, felt like I was gently being wrapped in a warm blanket. I never felt like I was being info-dumped on. Instead, the world gradually unfolds over the course of the story, in a way that feels organic and keeps you interested to learn more as the story goes on.
The characters. THE CHARACTERS. (Insert chef's kiss here.) I love the characters and their journey in this story. I don't really know what else to say without delving into spoilers. I just love them.
I'm really excited to read more of Brandon Sanderson's books now, and love fantasy once more!

This is not going to be a very useful or coherent review, but I feel like if I don't type something I'm going to burst because I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH AND I NEED EVERYONE TO KNOW!

地球上線 The Earth Is Online by Mo Chen Huan, 莫晨歡
(I'm not taking the translation quality into consideration for my rating.)
I absolutely loved this! Well worth the read :)

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
I'm really glad that I finally read this. Despite having listened to the audiobook many times, there were different parts of the story that stood out to me in written form.
Such an amazing book, I can't wait to continue the series!

The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee
4.5
Wow!!! This was an amazing read.
Definitely more suited for older (YA+) readers, given the higher level of (graphic) violence compared to the series.
An amazing story with great characters that I grew to love faster than I could have imagined.
I can't wait for the next book!!!

Check, Please! Book 2: Sticks & Scones by Ngozi Ukazu
This was amazing! I'm so sad it's the end, I must admit I had to wipe away some tears.
The characters are amazing and have become so dear to me over the course of these books! There is also an amazing balance of light and serious stuff. One minute you're cackling out loud, the next you're crying along with Bitty... Yet it never feels like a rollercoaster.
I really enjoyed this series!

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

If I could give this 6 stars, I would.
(I may or may not have contemplated lowering all my other ratings by one star just so I could give this one more star than any other book...)
Just. Wow. I have no words. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more.
These characters are so dear to my heart, and I found myself caring intensely about their story. This book is excellently written and I can't wait to read it a thousand times more. I am very very excited to see what Casey McQuiston does next!

Love, love, LOOOOVE this comic! I never really got into the web version, but sitting down with a book is a guaranteed way for me to get hooked. Seriously adore this story.
My one complaint is that some of the panels are printed quite dark. I feel like they'd translate better on a screen, and might have needed some colour correction. Still, not a deal-breaker in the least!
Highly recommend this book ❤️
Re-read 2020: Still loved this as much as I did last year! The darkness of the panels bothered me less this time around. Maybe it's because I read it right next to a window? Who knows. Excited to follow it up with the sequel now!!!
