I … just … wtf
This is my first Lucinda Berry, so maybe this is just her jam and I had my expectations completely in the wrong place - but it didn’t really feel like the synopsis was accurate to what you were getting, and this was unbelievably dark.
I kept reading hoping for some semblance of … something, but it never came.
stream of consciousness rant incoming:
I don’t get the point of this, as there was not one redeeming character in the entire thing, and there are no consequences for the fact that they are just out here KILLING PEOPLE. Also, did Paris know Laurel or didn’t she? Paris says at the end that she didn’t know any Laurels, but Laurel said she was in the room where it happened and gave her a shot of vodka when they got to the party. Anyways, that doesn’t even really matter. I very much did not like this, but I was reading so fast at the end (waiting for her to get saved or SOMETHING) that I didn’t even realize it was just going to be misery for misery’s sake. What about the other patients? What about the cops? WHERE WAS BULLDOG BOONE AND HOW WOULD THIS EVEN HAVE HAPPENED anywho I’m over it good lord I wish I could scrub this from my brain
Also, as someone who has lived through sexual abuse, I very much understand the statistics and the horror and the trauma and everything imaginable about how serious it is. I also know that, for me, this book was nothing but misery for misery’s sake.

I Would Die for You by Sandie Jones
Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
The dialogue felt forced and stilted, and the writing was not doing it for me.
