Did not finish book. Stopped at 40%.
I am going to have to soft DNF this book. I got about halfway through and wasn't in the right headspace to keep going. I will pick it up again later.

Thank you edelweiss for letting me review this.

I read a little over half the stories but I got bored. I wanted to like this one because I like some authors, but I couldn't get through them. I wish it was a little scarier and something more.

This was a quick Christmas Eve read for me, and I did enjoy it. The only issue I had with the book was that the ending felt a little rushed, and I wish there had been more time spent with the mom dealing with her past. I could see where Kim Newman was trying to go with the story, but I just felt that it didn't hit the mark with me. Will I pick up their other series? Probably, but not anytime soon.

This book gave me the same feelings I had when I read SJM and Sherrilyn Kenyon for the first time.

I absolutely loved Saeris as a FMC because she wasn't perfect but was flawed. She made the wrong decisions and the right ones just like a human would. And those around her didn't baby her or treat her like she was breakable. The there was Kingfisher, he is the grumpy shadow daddy MMC and I loved him. I also liked that he was flawed but fought for those he loved still even though he didn't think he was worth it. The banter between them was great and it didn't stop once they go together.

The standout side character has to be Carrion and maybe Lorreth. They both had me giggling and smiling. I need a book about those two asap. I don't care who their mates are I just need more of them.

If you pick this up then I highly recommend the audiobook for it. It was perfect to listen to as you followed along as you read.

Now I am going to wait in my corner for book two.

I absolutely loved this book and it had me laughing out loud. I listened to it on audio but I will definitely need to get a physical copy for myself and all my friends.

This started out as a high four star but it started to drag a little close to the end. I don't know if it was a me problem because I wasn't in the right head space or if it was the books problem. I still say AJ Merlin is still my favorite author and she is an audio buy author for me.

Out of all the guys Ezra has to be my all time Book boyfriend followed by Arlo, Ashe, Isaac and then Cyril.

To me this was more a character driven book than a plot. And I think I was looking for more of a plot driven book at the time. Maybe next time I will listen to the audiobook instead of physical reading it.
