Keep reading til page 100-150! The story picks up and you won’t be able to put it down after that. Finally in my thriller reading life, I was unable to guess the plot twists. Woo hoo! I enjoyed the interconnectivity of all the details. One thing I struggled with though was the philosophical points. But hey, I’m not philosopher! 😂 This was a great read with a paranormal element to it too.
You’ve probably noticed at this point that I’m not a long reviewer. So let’s discuss this one in a paragraph or two!
Let me start by saying I’m a massive Royals fan and history fan. I enjoy reading the nonfiction historical accounts that are more evidence based, but also enjoy the purely drama side of royal nonfiction.
Going into this book I was beyond excited! My most anticipated read of this year! I loved Harry’s account. There were a few bits in the book where he disproved rumors that had been written in other royalist books I had read in the past and I thought that was great. Never in a million years did I think I’d be reading or listening to Harry’s personal opinions and the “secrets” of the monarchy. I fully appreciate this opportunity. I know the recent talk is whether Harry is telling the truth. And it’s not my place to make that decision or inquiry. All in all I loved the bits about his mother and even more details throughout the book that weren’t told in the Netflix documentary.
This is a top contender for best book of the year and I’m only 3 weeks into 2023!!!
If you don’t know my reading style at this point, I go in blind…always! I’m so happy I knew nothing about this book. And I’m kicking myself because I originally would not have read this one if I hadn’t been sent it by a book box company to review for them (Hey Once Upon a Book Box!).
I loved this story. A mix of mystery/thriller with a really heartfelt plot. I love the fact it was co-written, and you’d honestly not realize! Both authors did such a great job of letting their words flow together seamlessly. I don’t know how to review without including major plot point spoilers, but overall it was a deep story and highly enjoyable.
I don’t know why I do this to myself, but I usually put off reading very popular books due to the fact I don’t want the risk of being disappointed by a potentially overrated book. Well that wasn’t the case with this book. I think this book deserves the hype! Even though I was not Daisy’s biggest fan, I loved the format of this book and the overall storyline. So addicting to read! And the Fleetwood Mac references were amazing. What a quick read and bingeable for sure.
I read this book with the SoCal Story Swappers Bookclub! And thank you to @k8thebibliophile for the 12 for 12 friends recommendation!
This was a fun and original plot. I’ll start with that. An actress joins a quiet movie set and discovers everything is not what it appears. I struggled to relate to Adele’s choices in the book. I think that was my struggle reading this book. If there was danger, I would have barricaded myself in my cabin and waited til daylight! My favorite parts of this book was the political intrigue of the movie set cast and crew, and least was the running through the forest bits. I loved the meta book plot point and it really made this a quick read!
I read this book with Thrillers by the Bookclub SoCal!
Okay this was a weird one. Like it was well written and the plot was unique, but as I was reading, I questioned if I was reading a memoir. It’s also on the longer side. I don’t know how I feel about this short story. Plot was very original though and had that mystery element.
Maybe a bit too cheesy for me, but hey, it’s a holiday read! It definitely helps you feel happy and excited about the holiday season. It’s also very short so I didn’t feel like I wasted my time reading it. Cute for sure!
My first read of this author, which I need to change immediately. I thought it would focus more on Christmas, but this memoir’s main story was about the author’s experience with Halloween. It was so funny to read! Worth the short time to read.
This was such a fun read! And now that I’m thinking about it, maybe my first MM romance read! (I think that’s the right term, so forgive me if I’m wrong)
I loved the reality show aspect to the story and it made the chapters really fly by. The mental health awareness plot to the book was amazing and done really well. I’m not a romance aficionado, hence the lower score. Still not my favorite genre. But I love a good rom com every now and then.
Thank you to @treereads for the 12 for 12 friends recommendation!
What a cute and cozy read! I left this book for December, knowing it would give me all those warm feelings. I am not a classics person so I was a bit apprehensive going in. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and loved the character of Anne! Now I just need to decide if I want to eventually read the rest of the series.
