AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS WHY WAS THIS SO GOOD WHY THE CLIFFHANGER I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW OH GOD THAT SLOW BURN IDK WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF

Ok so this was a high school sports romance heavy on the trauma with love at first sight but tons of denial. If you like a big strong overprotective yet gentle hero who comes in to save the poor emotionally/physically wounded girl he can’t get out of his head, this is perfect for you. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

Very stereotypical YA with deadly trials and a secret resistance which aren’t my favorite tropes and a little overdone but eventually I did get into it enough to enjoy it. The romance was pretty good and def my style but the ending with all the feelings of betrayal hurt me and not in a good way. I see where this story is going and I don’t know that I’m willing to stick through it because if it’s anything like the ending of this book, it’s just not worth the pain. I think this story had lots of potential that just wasn’t properly executed. If you want a cute undeniable, instant attraction forbidden love story this is great just stop reading before the last trial. That’s where it lost an extra half star for me.

Omg this book was hilarious. I was laughing and giggling the whole time. Just a silly little story about a girl stumbling into the mythical world while also kicking some ass along the way. Tori is what anyone who’s ever worked in the service industry wishes they could be. Her throwing the serving tray at an obnoxious customer in chapter one instantly sold the story for me. She’s so sassy I couldn’t help but love her.
