To be honest it just never really took off for me. I still very much loved the writing and the style but it seemed a little dry at times. Very dark and haunting in its own way.

This book is one of his finest novels although anything between The Stand, Under the Dome and others it really becomes so hard to compare but this book had some beautiful moments, made me cry, made me think and really was so difficult to put down

This has a lot of promise but around the halfway mark the book really just delved into the authors mindset of foreigners. The stupidity of the poor English of the hotel manager had no purpose other than to belittle a character who didn’t need to be belittled and the constant comparisons to east and western worlds just seemed a little lazy rather than actually making the comparisons where a reader may be more intrigued rather than just “Muslims are bad”.
It wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read but the last half was lazy writing and just became irritating to read.
