I ate this book up. My original draw to it was that the main character played a fake Elsa in the book's version of Disneyworld and like descends into madness (I would argue that she was already mad but there is a trigger event that like intensifies it). This book is not for the weak but CJ Leede did a phenomenal job of creating a main character that I didn't like personally but was somehow still rooting for. There were just a lot of scenes that were so well done in terms of their absurdity but realness, specifically the doxxing scene and the ice rink scene. This was definitely one I couldn't put down, and the only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating from me was that sometimes the plot could be hard to follow, and the ending felt a tad rushed to me.

I absolutely devoured this book. I think this is the most mature romance I've ever read. The main characters are very aware of how problematic their relationship could be seen as and actually work hard to make sure the decisions they make are as ethical as possible, and even involve their therapists. I think that is what made the book so great for me. Akwaeke Emezi is an author that I've been reading for a while but I definitely think this is my favorite book by them so far. The only thing I was left wanting from this book was spice, but the scenes we do get are beautifully written.
