Overall I enjoyed it. Some stories hit more than others. The best ones for me were the shorter ones though Sunrise, Sunset was on the longer side and was one of my favorites.

This is one of the most bueatiful Marvel comics I’ve read in a minute. Moon girl was absolutely adorable and Devil Dinosaur is great too. She doesn’t cry a lot but they really made her feel 9 (she might be 12 but I think she’s 9.) She feels misunderstood a lot and is bored in school because she’s so smart. BTW I loved her inventions. They reminded me of inspection gadget but tailored to her.

Main hang up are the villains. In this one they’re like <50% of the story but IMO there wasn’t enough of a set up. Once they got their footing it was fine several pages in. If you’re unfamiliar with Inhumans event I’d watch a quick video about it on YouTube because the explaination in the book is kinda awkward. Like everyone knows about it and she knows a lot more and has questions. I’m not docking for showing and not telling because 1) it’s for all ages, 2) the inhumans event happened across Marvel and 3) because the showing in the novel with other elements was so strong.

I keep seeing. “Erotica” brought up in reviews when this is a straight up adult romance. The sex, (while graphic because it is a visual medium) is not the main element of the story. It very much focused on class and woman’s autonomy (and lack thereof) at the turn of the 20th century. Even a side character has a similar thing happening though she is wholly unaware of the privileges she has due to her wealthy family.

Other topics like colonialism, 1st fave UK feminism, etc get brought up too and sit in the novel.
