Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason by Nancy Pearl

4.0

Much more accessible and more fun/down-to-earth than a Harold Bloom guide, Nancy Pearl's Book Lust is a compact book that manages to cover a lot of territory. Pearl's book had given me a lot of ideas, and it is no wonder that she has become the mascot/superhero of librarians everywhere. See http://www.shakespearesden.com/11548.html.

Part story/part novel, Cisneros paints intimate portraits of each of the residents on Mango Street while giving us a sense of the shared experiences, sorrows and joys of a community. Cisneros is a masterful storyteller.
