Thank you to edelweiss for an advanced readers copy.

I dnfed because the premise and story got boring and predictable. I thought that since I loved Daisy Jones and The Six with its vibe and formant I would love this book. Unfortunately  not.

Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey

Thank you to Netgalley and McMillan audio for thos Audio arc.

Just like home is a suspense thriller that has a gothic atmosphere to it. You're following Vera, a women returning home to aid her mother on her death bed, who hasn't been to her childhood home since she left as a young women after finding our her father was a serial killer.

Upfront, I dnf'ed this audiobook half way through as much as didn't want to. I really couldn't see this getting any better.

I was so excited for this thriller, the idea of Vera returning home and dealing with the relationship with her mother and father and their history. The cover and description hooked me but the actual story was a let down.
I'd hope the author would visit Vera's teens years more than they had. I'd listen to 30% of the audiobook and realized there was so much  redundant phrase to describe the house, Vera, her mother and what Vera's mother was like- it felt like filler.

Perhaps I will pick this up again from my local library to finish it but I was disappointed with what I read.

It's only volume one so I can't judge it too much. I don't like how Liddy has no agency in her own engagement even when explaining how she wants a monogamous relationship in a polygamous world.

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Griffin for this Audio Arc.

This book opens with a panic attack and has themes of Mental health and illnesses.
Heavy trigger warnings for PTSD, Anxiety disorders and panic attacks, self harm.

Aja, a young social media manager, who has just moved to the small town of Greenbelt  meets the man of her dreams in the local supermarket in the midst of a panic attack.
This dreamy man, Walker Abbot, has just returned to Greenbelt to help with his grandmother after a minor accident. After a heated bingo game Aja and Walker decide to go into a hasty bingo sex pack - Because that would be better than admitting there could be more than just sexual attraction.

I love that this romance book focuses on the two people individually, their families, friendships and health then puts them together. AND THEY COMMUNICATE!
Walker deals with his childhood trauma and relationships with his hometown, father and grandmother.
Aja works with her social anxiety by making friends in a new town and looking for a fresh start.

This book is HOT  šŸ”„ šŸ„µ  , I never knew bingo could be sexy!? A bingo sex pact, thats definely how Iā€™m going to recommend this book. The banter, the relationship, friendships!? I loved every bit of it.

This is genuinely one of the best YA fantasy books I've read in so long. The world building and character development was everything! Tari's journey is one of healing and finding self identity.
The plot twist and "info dumping" were built into the story so seamlessly.
I cannot wait to continued in Redemptor!
