Did not finish book. Stopped at 45%.
I have a lot of problems with the plot, the editing, and the mention and inclusion R. K3lly and toxic masculinity and toxic relationships.

This was really more of a new adult slightly cozy fantasy TO ME. The twist came at the end that no one sees coming to get people to move forward with the next book. Sadly, I will not.

Thoroughly enjoyed especially once we got to the 40% mark (audio). I love a good dual POV. It being basically a slow burn was great for this storyline. The MMC was a cinnamon roll and fell first. 🥰 There was the miscommunication trope but only because of trauma and everyone trying to respect boundaries. Besides that, Denise knows I will always be picking up her books. When's the next one, boo?

This is a true historical fiction with elements of mystery, suspense, and romance. I honestly enjoyed it. I am even satisfied with the end and what Nelly decided. She made the best decision for herself. I did feel sad for 'Jay Shorey' at the end but he made his own bed. I would love to see another book by this author.
