CCJ goes back to the Heights to reset whenever she needs it, and I think she brings a lot of more flair and politics into this one. The love for the Heights is the centerpiece to this story and a nod to its longevity in the story and in the CCJverse. To me, this is not a great standalone to come into the CCJ world. I do not think this shows her range, but it does at the same time. She stated that you would need to read about the Roses before this story and I agree. The cameos are abundant, and she does do a good job of reintroducing, but the familiarity may feel off for those who have never read from her before or in her universe before, especially if they've never read about the Heights before. To me, the vibes is a mix of the Heights, the politics of a Mutually Beneficial Arrangement, and the Roses series of hers. And I would say most definitely some feel of MC Predators duology as well. I enjoyed the public health aspect of it as well as public health professional. I could tell she did her research, which I appreciated. Overall, I am interested to see where she goes next. Is it Hostile Takeover #2? Is it Sugar Valley? Or an addition to this story? Either way, Christina 'Can't Write a Bad Book' Jones is back giving us hits.

This was solid end to the duology. Enjoyed it but not as much as the first one. Can't figure out why yet but glad to have finished it!
