1 star for the age-appropriate romance. Smut has been everywhere lately and it's mostly... badly written. So, it was nice and refreshing to revert back to hand holding and stolen kisses.

But that's the only positive aspect of this book.

I've read 46 fanfictions with the same tropes written in the back of a bus from someone who's first language is not English that were better.

DNF’ed at 30%, I’m not enjoying myself due to the very slow place.

I thought I had clocked in the culprit at page 120 and until the last 40 pages I was sure I was right - but no. So, points for that!

The concept of the book in itself was very nice, but the execution felt … uninteresting, for lack of better words.
We have a father in jail - that we never visited.
A hospitalized mother - that we visit twice, and barely talk with.
A brother that doesn’t like the fiancé - which we discuss with half-words (they literally have the same conversation twice).
A nice-ish fiancé (he does make questionable choices) - that she constantly pushed away and then cheat on.
An inspector that’s barely around…

You see what I mean? So many puzzle pieces that could have made this story so much more interesting, and yet - the author barely did anything with them, except putting them on the table.

Not to mention that the main character makes bad decision, one after the other. Also, and someone else in the reviews mentioned this, why do we need to drug our female mc’s all the time in thrillers? That did not, in any way, push the story forward.

So, it was an okay time, but not an excellent one. I did not feel thrilled or excited in the slightest, merely curious. By 50%, I was reading in diagonal.

I was not feeling it, and current reviews confirmed it was not for me.
