This was a sweet novella! I really liked the characters and the setting of the story (NASA and Svalbard), and I really liked the back and forth between past and present. But if you’ve read one Ali Hazelwood book, you’ve sorta read them all. It has the same set up of her other novels… the two main characters meet at grad school, they rekindle their relationship a few years later (work/friend/romantic), the MMC is super successful despite being a few years older, and the FMC is also successful but has some doubts about their place in the field, there’s mixed feelings, and the FMC gets into a very dangerous situation that the MMC has to rescue her from. It’s still a very fun read, but definitely follows the Ali format.
This did lose me whenever Ian kept comparing Hannah’s body to Mars geographical landmarks. Also there’s a side comment about “gross STD’s” that was really unnecessary.
