Maurice seemed like he loved Grace–just not enough to put her first. Trevor was a lowkey manipulative creep–who just happened to want the same traditional life she craved. I wasn’t rooting for either, but she obviously ended up with someone as she’s married in the book’s opening crime scene before the flashbacks kicked off. The writing was a little offbeat, but there was something enjoyably quirky about this love triangle mystery. This all took place in the ‘80s, but the dialogue made it feel like the ‘50s. (I wouldn’t have batted an eye if one of the characters had said, “Sure, gee whiz.”)
