Curse of the Winter Lord by Susan Shepard

emotional hopeful medium-paced

4.0

This story is very Red Riding Hood meets Beauty And The Beast, about a girl from a small village that's plagued by a supernatural wolf. As the village descends into despair and madness at losing more and more of their children, Athena makes the decision to follow the wolf and find them.

This is a really sweet romance, with some truly dark scenes. I think the author managed to keep a good balance between the two. Athena and Edur both support and challenge each other, I love when a potential couple meets and you can immediately see how great they'd be together. I also liked the introduction of his friends and family later in the story.

I think this is a standalone, and wraps Edur and Athena's story up well in this book. I think I would love to read more from this world, as I was intrigued by the other seasons, and would also love to see more from Icelyn and Harper.
