Thoughts: This is Going to Hurt” follows the secret diary entries of Junior Doctor Adam Kay. I believe everyone should read this book as it gives you a good glimpse of what is it like for doctors within the healthcare system, in particular the UK. Being in healthcare myself, it was nice to have an understanding of what Adam was discussing. For those who may not have knowledge of some topics, there are footnotes at the bottom of the page, which I thought were great. Adam discussed many sad stories but was still able to share his funny encounters too. I look forward to adding more of Adam’s books to my tbr.

Synopsis: Welcome to the life of a junior doctor: 97-hour weeks, life and death decisions, a constant tsunami of bodily fluids, and the hospital parking meter earns more than you. Scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless nights and missed weekends, Adam Kay’s This is Going to Hurt provides a no-holds-barred account of his time on the NHS front line. Hilarious, horrifying and heartbreaking, this diary is everything you wanted to know - and more than a few things you didn’t - about life on and off the hospital ward.
