DNF after 110 pages (25%)

The blurb and idea of the book sounded great, but unfortunately the book wasn’t for me.

I had a hard time getting into the story and connecting with the characters. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the FMC and the MMC, and the reason for their actions wasn’t that clear. I mean, yes, the FMC had a difficult childhood, but what happened during the seven year time jump that made her what she became wasn’t explained, at least not in the 110 pages I read. Of course, I can’t say anything about the rest of the book and maybe there was an explanation for that later in the book. Also, her brother just disappeared?

I personally think that the storyline had potential, but could have used a bit more work and editing. There were multiple parts that felt quite choppy for me and the writing wasn’t as “fluid” or flowing as it could have been.


Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
