This book is just so disconnected. First, we jump right into magical systems without doing any character development. (I’m fine with the stakes-setting first chapter, but the second chapter where we are introduced to the main character does no table setting.) And then every third paragraph is about some new topic in a way that there are too many ideas and not enough editing
