This was just so good. The plot, pace, characters, world, and overall story was just awesome. Gwynne clearly loves the Viking saga and he writes something here that envelopes all that their culture and myth has to offer. The battles are bloody and sharp, the dialogue matches the tone and atmosphere perfectly, scene changes and pace are phenomenal. This is the start to what can only be a gripping series.
