A disappointing read. Unfortunately this book did not live up to my expectations. I found the whole book abit of a drag to read, everything was pretty over dramatic and repetitive. There also seemed to be an unnecessary need to over explain everything which just made me lose interest. I also really didn’t understand the constant need to mention someone’s spit so found it pretty disgusting at points. 

Another frustration was the lack of character development, there wasn’t much back story for any of the characters so I didn’t connect with any of them. To be honest I found Lucy, Susannah and Martin all pretty annoying.

Overall, the plot sounded great, but lacked execution so left me feeling extremely underwhelmed.
